I graciously declined the offer of the lateral move, and gave my notice today.
It was an emotional experience for me, because I didn't think I'd be doing this, and because I've been here for so long (almost 6 1/2 years) - you kind of get attached to people after working with them all that time. Or maybe it's just me.
Still, I'm not sure how or what to feel right now. I don't feel relieved or excited. I don't feel disappointed or upset. I just feel numb - like it hasn't set in yet.
The good thing is, I was told that if something happens and California doesn't work (G*d forbid), I'm always welcome back at the agency. That did make me feel pretty good. :)
Now, I have crap to get off the desk - and my lunch hour is over - so I should get back to work.
