OMG, that sounds so much like my parents when I moved out to SD! Right down to the calling a therapist for me to talk to about it (I didn't have one at the time). Yikes.
FWIW, I don't think you'd want to come back to your current job even if things didn't work out. Ever. It's an excellent excuse to leave a job you hate. If the move doesn't work, then at least you'll have a new job! And besides, it is really exciting to move across the country, even if she can't get past her fears for you! It does take a little getting used to not to have family around, but it really isn't that big a deal since plane fares are not prohibitively expensive these days. (And if your family is anything like mine, it's nice to have a break from them some of the time!)
