Yesterday was a really good day for me.

I went to work, half-expecting my cubicle to be decorated in all black, co-workers dressed in black - just looking overall funereal. Instead, I went in to people dressed "normally" - albeit in brighter colors. My cubicle was decorated in bright colored streamers and signs that said "Happy 30th Birthday Carly". Did I mention that it was filled with about 150 balloons? Balloons everywhere - on the desk, on the cube walls, under my desk, in drawers. Also lots of confetti in the paperwork, on the desk and on the floor as well. I ended up tracking out the plastic confetti "30s", and jokingly said that it was my way of finding my way back to my desk if I got lost.

Patti and Rachelle brought in cookies and a cake - which was very nice of them. I'd gotten a gag gift from people in the office - a 30s Survival Kit, with antacids, aspirin with sleep aid, denture cleaning tablets, toothpicks, vitamins - 30 of each, of course.

I was taken out to lunch by Rachelle, although it evolved into the entire Personal Lines department, as well as Chrissy, our receptionist - going out to Chevy's for Mexican food. Yes, they did sing to me (including my favorite waitress - a gal that looks like Drew Barrymore), brought dessert (a chocolate sundae), and plopped a sombrero on my head - as though the tiara wasn't enough headwear for me!

All in all, it was a good work day, and I really had a wonderful birthday, thanks in part to my co-workers.

In the evening, mom and Taylor took me out to dinner at the Pasta House Company. Excellent food, very good company, and free dessert (cheesecake) without the public humiliation angle. :)

Later that night, my dad came by to drop off my birthday present. The visit was, as is the case most times, rather awkward. After he left, I almost wanted to cry. Then, I just reminded myself that I wasn't going to let this one thing bring down what had been an excellent day.

As for my gifts - Kellie gave me a gift certificate for Amazon.com, which was very cool. Now, to decide what books I want! My family gave me two Dilbert cartoon books, and my dad gave me $100 cash. Of course, one of the best gifts was seeing how much I was loved, and how well-thought of I am to others. That really made me feel good. :-D

And, of course, I can't forget to thank everyone that wished me a happy birthday! You all had me crying from happiness, seeing that so many people were wishing me a happy birthday. I felt so warm, happy and loved all day. So THANK YOU for the kind words and wishes - that meant a lot to me! (I'll be coming around to thank every one of you personally ... it may take a bit of time, though!)

Love to you all - have a great day, and an excellent weekend!
