Cleaning Up The House
Feb. 21st, 2003 11:03 pmYes, I'm still working on cleaning up the kitchen. For once, I think I've hit upon a method that works. Rather than scrambling about trying to get EVERYTHING done immediately, I've been doing one thing, taking a break, going back to work - repeat as necessary.
That, and I've been unearthing CDs I haven't listened to in months - or in some cases, years - for some musical accompaniment to my work. Neneh Cherry (remember "Buffalo Stance"? Anyone?) is great for getting through stacks of dishes, and Q-Tip is proving to be damn good background music for scrubbing down the stove. Okay, so it gives me an excuse to be a huge geek and pretend that I can actually dance. ;)
It may sound really dumb, but for some reason, getting my kitchen cleaned up is making me feel pretty good. My mom is coming by tomorrow to help with the rest of the place (all but the bedroom, thank Gord) ... so I was scurrying about, getting the smut into hiding, putting toys away, etc. I made the mistake of putting my toys in the linen closet before - and last week, Taylor opened the door and I'm afraid that she may have seen things she shouldn't. *cringes a bit* Don't want that happening with other family members, y'see. (Yes, I know, I'm an adult, I'm entitled to my sexlife, blah blah blah. But, I look at it this way: I know nothing of my parents' sexlife, they know nothing of mine, and it's perfectly copacetic.)
Anyways, I was reluctant to have help with cleaning the place up, but then mom bribed me with the idea of getting pastrami on rye at a nearby deli ... and I was a goner. ;) Granted, there isn't going to be eleventy billion hours' of cleaning to be done - but there is enough, that's for sure. Well, everything but the kitchen after tonight.
And that's what I've been up to this evening. Woohooo - how exciting, I know. Hopefully you all are doing more fun things that I've been.
