I wanted to get some new Birkenstocks, as mine are back in St. Louis and/or almost decimated. I wanted to get these - my years-long Birkie obsession, but alas, there is one strap that couldn't be adjusted, so they were quite uncomfortable. *pouts*
The good thing is, I got another pair of sandals that are just darn cute, I'd say. My new Birkies - and no, they're not birth control for feet!
Even Kellie, who's had problems with Birkenstock-style shoes in the past, came away with a swell pair of vege-friendly shoes. And she was hoping to get some cute kitten heels! They're made with Birko-Flor, which is a vegetable fiber that can be used to make the various colors, styles, designs - even simulate leather and nubuck, and the uppers are made from microfiber, which feels so much like leather, that it fooled even me. The only real difference - besides the materials? The price, because the more vege-friendly Birks aren't made from leather, obviously. Otherwise, they look and feel like the real thing to the casual observer.
At some point, I would *love* to get these, because they're wickedly gorgeous - style and color-wise: again, no more birth control, baby!
So, to get your Birkenstock yayas - get to the Birkenstock website and check out their shoes. :) They're not just for hippies and lesbians anymore.
