hiddenmuse: (Interesting)
Here's something I don't get: At work, I usually eat lunch in the kitchen. No big deal, right? It's just that what puzzles me is the fact that if I go into the kitchen and people from another department are there - they seem to be quick to move to the conference room, or the lower level snack area.

It doesn't bother me - I just find it to be rather odd. It almost feels like "hi, we're regressing to high school behavior - despite being perimenopausal!"

Ah well. I do my best to be polite - sometimes deferential - do my work, go on about my days, stay out of people's way, so on and so forth. It just humors me to see that almost cliquish behavior. Our receptionist asked me about it, and I just laughed and said "I guess I'm not good enough - or cool enough. But that's okay."

In the grand scheme of things, who I sat with at lunch at work has no bearing on my performance at work. It's all in how I treat the clients and co-workers outside of my lunch hour. And I like to think (and hope) that I treat everyone with respect and decency - because it's what they deserve, no matter what my opinion of them may be. :)

This really chapped my ass - and it takes quite a bit to get me that pissed off.
