Yeah, rather than sitting on my tuchas & watching American Idol, I'll be going to the movies. :)

I won tickets to a sneak preview of Neil LaBute's new film, The Shape of Things, so I'll be going to the Tivoli this evening for that. (The Tivoli is a very cool art house-style theatre that was completely remodeled and restored several years ago.)

Although, I was bad, and during my lunch hour, I looked at Steve's pics on the blog - my computer at home is for the birds - and the photo I linked to last night ... well, I'm almost tempted to stay home & let the Muse give me ideas. ;)

But, instead, I'll go to the movies and get to ogle Paul Rudd for a while.

The Shape of Things was a very, very interesting movie. Kind of dark and convoluted - as Neil LaBute films tend to be - but very interesting.

Paul Rudd, of course, was hot. Even when he was playing schlumpy - he was hot. Rachel Weisz's character was a conniving bitch - but oh my, she was too smooth. And Gretchen Mol's character was quite vanilla ... not to mention that she looked sort of like a blonde Sarah McLachlan.

{How quickly I forgot! The music was by Elvis Costello & it seemed like a lot of it was from When I Was Cruel ... so, unless there are any other songs I didn't know of, you can get When I Was Cruel and basically have the soundtrack to The Shape of Things in your pretty little hands. Besides that, you'd also have some decent Elvis Costello tunes.}

I'd definitely see the movie again. :)

Otherwise, the weather was for the birds. Thunder, lightning, near-torrential downpours. Blah. Made me glad that I was in flats and schlepping around my behemoth umbrella. After the movie, I went to my favorite "late-night record shop" - Vintage Vinyl, and bought a Charles Mingus CD (he was a Jazz bassist, for those that may be wondering) - although I was tempted to get Placebo's new one. I think I'll wait on that until I have more money....

Oh yeah ... new site to check out: The Borowitz Report. Look through the Archives section - some of the fake headlines are terrific, and of course, funny as hell. Especially this one: "Saddam and Osama Threaten to Quit Writing Letters If No One Writes Back"

Well, the CD is great, but rather relaxing. Perhaps this means that I should get my ass in bed soon. Good night everyone - and a pleasant tomorrow! :)
