This morning started out well enough. Got into work on time, had a decent meeting with the Personal Lines department, managed to get some business moved for a client, stayed on top of things ... then the office got a collective suckerpunch. Well, mainly my department.

Our Data Entry gal/ Jill of All Trades quit today. No real notice, just an e-mail this afternoon announcing her resignation effective immediately. God, I really had the wind knocked out of me with that one. Apparently she wasn't happy - and hadn't been for a long time, which is a shame. I know that she was offered opportunities to move up, but passed on them, but I didn't think it was that bad.

What does this mean? That our department gets to function with one less person for the time being, and we're all picking up the slack in one way or another. I'll be trained on billing, and will be paid overtime for doing the extra hour (or so) a night of work to get the billing done.

Still, the way I'm feeling is almost indescribable. It's just wierd. If nothing else, the fact that I've been called in to do the extra work is a vote of confidence, and puts my paranoid little mind to rest for a while.

Since I'm at work, I should get home ... and I'll post some more stuff, to make up for lj's being down last night, when I was feeling all prolific and pissy.

So I never got into Survivor, didn't watch The Mole, Amazing Race, Big Brother, The Bachelor or any of its various iterations, Road Rules, and only got into the first 2 seasons of The Real World ... but I still consider myself to be a reality TV whore.

While lj was pitching an electronic temper fit last night, I was in my own Nerdvana, watching High School Reunion and The Surreal Life. For all three of you that watched it (or would admit to it), was that not the most fucked-up two hours of television?

High School Reunion was interesting. All I can say is that Nicole has me freaked out with her talk about how "at the end of the two weeks, I'll be Mrs. Dan So-and-So". Hello! Earth to Nicole! It's been TEN YEARS. He was a "player" in high school. In case you're completely oblivious, "player" is a nice way of saying that Danny Boy was a Slut Boy. Once a slut, always a slut. Besides, two weeks? What? Are you Mormon or something? Or just wicked desperate and fomenting a stalker-worthy fantasy from high school?

The Surreal Life had its moments, too. Interesting mix of 'players', too. Hammer, Vince Neil (Motley Crue), Emanuel Lewis (Webster), Gabrielle Carteris (Beverly Hills 90210), Brande Roderick (one of many Baywatch chicks), Corey Feldman (washed-up teen icon), and Jerri Manthey (Survivor).

Besides the fact that they have a fully-stocked bar in a house with two recovering smackheads (Feldman & Neil) - yeah, that's *smart*. Give the recovering addicts something else to get hooked on... I wanted to slap Corey Feldman for being such a damned hypocrite (a vege wearing leather), and laugh at Vince Neil for porking up like he did. (Urgh ... all bloated and gross-looking. Not attractive *at all*)

Still ... it looks like an interesting season for me. ;)

I'd talked about Phil, the Company X underwriter I seem to be "in" with, since I've been the only person to really get any answers from him. Well, there seems to be trouble in paradise. Was it the prospect I slaved over, only to have it declined? Was it the fact that I sent photos of the dwellings, instead of nude photos of me? (just kidding ...) Whatever it was, things are wierding out.

First, it was his declining the business I'd slaved over - and worked with him on approving. Then, it was his declining to write a client - only to allow another agency to write the coverage. An e-mail I'd gotten from him was the final straw - and has co-workers asking if Phil and I are fighting.

And now, onto something I'm more familiar with )

Silly me, I've been slacking off in my attempt to be a decent lj hostess. I had 2 more people come along for the ride, and I forgot to say hello.

So greetings to [livejournal.com profile] rachel7moon and [livejournal.com profile] krisanne!
