Now for something less serious

I was fussing with my nails today - my nail polish is peeling, about 3 days post-manicure - and I thought of something from my childhood: peel-off nail polish.

Does anyone else remember this? Typically it was under the "Tinkerbell" brand, and usually came in 'sheer pink' - kind of like a tinted top coat, or sometimes even in "actual colors" like pink and some shade of peachy-orange.

Fun stuff. I think I painted my nails (and peeled off the polish) at least a few times a day! I kind of wish that they made it for adults - that would be quite fun. :-)

Okay ... so I checked it out, and it turns out that they make it for "grown-ups", too!

Sure it's all nice and environmentally-friendly, and "good for the body", but I refuse to give up my lust for Chanel Nail Polish, especially in the classic Vamp shade. And I'm not parting with my OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark either!

I had medium pink Tinkerbell polish when I was little and it was my favorite stuff ever.

I just remember that I always had so much fun with the stuff! I also had fun painting my brother's fingernails when he was about 2 years old - but not with the peel-off stuff. Nope, I think I used Avon polish in Chianti. :-)

those nail polishes are hot! i really like the lincoln park after dark..i love the names of nail polish, they are so silly :D

The names are quite fun - probably one of my favorite things, besides the colors! As much as I lust after Chanel's polishes, I can't bring myself to spend $20+ on a bottle of polish that I can get in the same (or a very similar) color from OPI or Essie for about $7.

$20??? for a nail polish! good lord, it must be good!

My thoughts exactly!

I think I'd used it once - when I had my nails done at a salon that had a couple of Chanel shades among the other brands - and it worked out pretty nicely. Just not $20 for a bottle of nail polish good.

OMG! I used to have some of that stuff, but mine was green. I don't remember the brand though. I also had some of that crackle nail polish. I hated that stuff.

That Lincoln Park After Dark is really pretty.

I remember the crackle nail polish - that was some really, really weird stuff, indeed!

The Lincoln Park After Dark is my color of choice for my toenails - I usually go with a pink or beige on my fingernails, kind of a balance between the colors.

I bookmarked the peel off stuff, I wanna try it some day!

:)

Coolness!

I may try it sometime, just for the hell of it.

*appears suddenly* Did someone say nail polish?

I think I heard that HBG's regular nail polish needed a special remover, but I don't think I know of anyone who has actually used it. I've actually been able to peel my regular OPI polish off, and it did leave my poor nail beds looking a bit dry. I dunno if HBG's do the same thing, though.

And don't pay retail for OPI! http://www.head2toebeauty.com/ , http://www.8ty8beauty.com/ ! H2T is probably the better choice because they're slightly closer to you. And because Tony at 8ty8 isn't as nice as Tom from 8ty8 and Tony's been answering e-mails lately. :-/

If there's a color you really like and you have $19 burning a hole in your pocket, Chanels aren't bad. But they ain't OPI, that's for sure!
