Book Project
With my sister giving birth in April (yeah ... in about 2 or so months. I'm feeling ancient here!) I've decided to do what I'm calling a "Book Project". This project involves gathering up favorite books of family members (aunts, uncle, mother) to give to my niece.
I've gotten the following books so far:
"The Poky Little Puppy" - my favorite
"The Monster At The End of the Book" - my brother's favorite
"I Am A Bunny" - Kellie's favorite
"Go, Dogs! Go!" - my sister's favorite
Along with "Pat The Bunny", "Good Night Moon" and "Harry The Dirty Dog" (another one of my favorites).
What I'll be doing is writing a note in the book like, "This was so-and-so's favorite book when they were a kid, and we want to share it with you". I will be doing this when my brother and sister-in-law have their own kids as well. :-)
Anyways ... I'd like to know. What was your favorite book as a kid?

I loved "The Giving Tree", anything by Richard Scary, and I think all kids need "Where Did I Come From?".

Also, One Fish, Two Fish. And The Cat In The Hat. Um. I'll stop now ;)

What a cool idea!

My others were "Make Way for Ducklings" and "Blueberries for Sal", but they are decidedly New England-themed books, written by New England authors.
Great idea, BTW. Favorite childhood book was what I asked for from all of my baby shower invitees. :)

Harry the Dirty Dog is a favourite of both mine and Emma's!
Where the Wild Things Are is another great one.
Guess How Much I Love You is one I really liked ready to Emma when she was tiny.

I distinctly remember loving Where the Wild Things Are, and the Harold and the Purple Crayon books are magical.

I totally recommend Thunder Cake, but I can't remember the author. It helped me get over my fear of thunder storms.

The Saggy Baggy Elephant was my favorite.
My kids loved Parts, but I don't remember the author. It's about a little boy who thinks his body is falling apart when he finds thinks like lint in his bellybutton, earwax, etc. It's really cute.
Oh, and, Where the Wild Things Are is an excellent book, too.
A must for your sister is I love You Forever.
