(no subject)

As much as I hate anything having to do with dentistry, I had to suck it up and go to the endodontist today.

Luckily, there was no major work required - just re-shaping a crown that was fucking up my bite.

Also, it helps that the office had an alt-rock station on, so I heard Soundgarden, Foo Fighters and some Linkin Park. Much better than my dentist's office, where getting my gums ripped apart was accompanied by James Blunt's whiny "You're Beautiful".

And did I mention that my endodontist looks like an ink-free Andy Hurley? Yeah ... if he wasn't married, and I wasn't partnered, I'd risk getting into some impropriety with him. Okay, maybe not ... it would be an interesting thought, though.

apropos of nothing...

I was once asked out by a dental surgeon. The guy who removed my wisdom teeth.

The fact that I was cohabitating at the time, and the guy's assistant spent half an hour telling me how the surgeon had been in school for his whole life and never dated before (minutes before the incredibly awkward asking-out), didn't help. The fact that he had at least 15 years on me and I was on the verge of leaving the country didn't help either.

I'd date my current dentist though, if I weren't already married. He's from newfoundland, and he's hilarious.

Do you feel weird that service professionals (dentists, washer repair men, etc) are no longer decades older than you are? I do...

Wow - that must've been awkward!

And yes, I think it's quite weird that dentists, doctors, repairmen, etc. are closer to my age. My internist is perhaps 5 years older than me, and he looks like he's in his 20s! Also, there's the whole "ma'am" thing. That makes me feel like I'm about 70 years old ... lol

Interestingly enough, hearing "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt feels like getting my gums ripped apart.

Ouch. I think that appointment was a preview of Hell - James Blunt, Daniel Powter, and Michael Bolton all on a continuous loop.

I think it just might have been worse than hell actually.....

well, it sure felt that way! Next time, I'm going to actually take the iPod out and find a happy place. (I'd say listening to "Let's Get It On" ... but I don't think that smirking like an idiot and getting horny at the dentist's office would go over very well.)
