Can I say that allergies are a real pain? We're supposed to be having a Green Day (air quality, not the band) - yet I was taking a 2d Claritin about 18 hours into its 24 hour dosing. I know that without the stuff, I'd be outside for about 15 minutes and wheezing, sneezing, all the other fun stuff.

Talking to my mom, she suggested going to an allergist. That's a swell idea, but I don't think I'd be able to get time off to go for the first visit until July, with the way the department schedules are working! But, it's better than popping 24-hour Allegra or Claritin twice a day - and I can find out if the allergies are serious enough to merit shots ... or just finding the right fit drug-wise.

I've been comtemplating seeing an allergist for a while now - the biggest reason being the pet dander issue. Then, the hay fever and its many different iterations comes around - along with the doctor grumping at me for "wanting a cure". I'd love to have a cure, but realistically, I know it's not going to happen. I just want to be able to take walks outside and visit friends and family with pets (especially cats) without shapeshifting into a sneezing, wheezing red-eyed creature. And since telling people to get rid of their beloved pets isn't an option - and when I get the inclination to go outside, I refuse to stay cooped up indoors - I'd want to know what can be done in the meantime.

Enough of my whining. I've got more to say - but it'll have to wait, as I'm not at home. So have a good afternoon/evening everyone!

I thought Green/Blue/Red Days were for pollutants only? Unless you're allergic to pollutants...

It's pretty wierd, I used to have horrible hay fever when growing up in Kentucky. They all pretty much disappear (just a few bad days a year) when I moved to St. Louis. Now my hay fever is virtually gone since I moved to Denver. ;-)

Maybe that's why I still have allergy problems on "Green Days".

For some reason, I thought it was air quality with regard to pollutants *and* allergens ... but I guess I was wrong!

Thank goodness I grew out of my allergies...

*sniff* okay, who let that cat near me?!

My allergies are better in San Diego than they were in Rochester, NY, but they still are a problem, especially living with cats. They also are better if I eat less dairy. I'll be interested in what happens if you go to an allergist, though, since I've thought about going to one myself...

My trip to the allergist

"Cats? But I have four! Dogs too? That's impossible!"
