"But. The Great Equalizer."
{the subject line comes from The Shape of Things ... a line that's stuck with me, especially when I'm writing those "kiss-slap-kiss" letters to people.}
Since I got my tax refund check into the bank today, I was a bad girl and treated myself to a few CDs: All American Rejects, Evan Dando - Baby I'm Bored and a 2 CD set of Disco's greatest hits (Disco being a huge guilty pleasure o'mine).
Just got home, so I've been listening to Evan Dando's solo debut (for a long-ass time, he was in a swell band called the Lemonheads. I'd highly recommend It's A Shame About Ray, and Lick - if only for their cover of Suzanne Vega's "Luka") and really enjoying it.
Dear Evan Dando -
Baby, I'm not bored. As a matter of fact, I'm glad to see that you're back in the music spotlight again - and for a new album this time. :)
Great tunes - a little bit like your work with the Lemonheads, but then again not. It's cool to see that you're working with Ben Lee ... especially since way back when, when Ben was just a young Aussie BCD (Before Claire Danes), he'd written that tribute song to you.
Anyways - glad you're back, Evan. Keep on making those great tunes.
Signed,
Carly
Not much else is going ... the pain isn't as bad as it was before. I just keep the Advil or Aleve nearby, just in case. In the meantime though, I have some laundry to do. Oh the joys of being an adult.
