Dear world - you suck!
Yep, nothing like some bad family news to make the weekend end on such a great note.
I'd mentioned in the past that my dad has cancer - he's doing pretty well with the chemo, about as well as can be expected... My stepmom is leaving him. Really fucking great time to do it, too. Apparently his step-daughters are telling him that he's not being good to her or some sort of possible nonsense.
Well, let's see.... he has cancer, and soon after his diagnosis, she was in another car crash that really fucked her up again - and she moved in with one of her daughters to be taken care of full-time. He still drove her to and from work every day, and did everything that he possibly could at his end. He took care of her through a prior car accident that left her in a coma, was with her through ovarian cancer.
There isn't any talk of divorce (yet) - who knows where this will end up. They have been together 25 years - and obviously been through a lot. My thinking is that they've gone through so much in the past couple of years, that it just caused so much stress on them ... and that stress had to come out in some way. It just sucks that it was this way.
My mom and sister are fighting, which has my mom upset. It happens, but I think this time - it's just really getting to her since it seems to be of the "before Taylor got pregnant" caliber of fighting.
My uncle (mom's brother) may have lung cancer. He went to the doctor with pains in his ribcage area - X-rays showed two broken ribs, and apparently some spots that caused concern. He's getting it all checked out, with a 2d opinion if necessary. Here's hoping for the best on that one.
I'm just hoping that my family angst will get better, that things will have a more positive turn and resolution.

Life does suck sometimes, but it has to get better, right?

I was thinking your Dad had already passed away...but now that I am thinking of it...it must have been your step dad.

Yep - it was my stepdad that passed away, in 2006. A month after he and my mom celebrated their 20th anniversary. :)

Tom Petty was right, the waiting is the hardest part!
