I'm a sick little puppy ... I'm one of those people that kinda likes snarkiness.
So, when I saw
baby_names in the LJ Spotlight, I had to join. If you take a look at Baby's named a bad, bad thing - you'll see why I couldn't pass up this trainwreck of a community.
Even though I don't plan to have kids - and obviously can't - I like to get reminders of how people can be nearly psychotic when naming their kids ... or just deciding on the names for those munchkins.
Currently, it's enough to make my head spin. Naming your kid after a video game character? Almost as bad as the woman that wanted to name her son "Bish" (short for "Bishonen").
So, yeah ... it's good for a laugh or two, it seems. :-)

I've been reading a book put together by the people that run The Sugarbeet (http://www.sugarbeet.blogspot.com), the Mormon version of The Onion, and one of the Stat Graphs is "What are we naming our kids?"
The names were: Taylor; Tyler; Teighlor: TaeLorre; Tyehlor; Tyelouerrh. Unfortunately, this isn't far from reality.
(yep, I grew up Mormon ... and survived it.)

And I love picking out names - even though we just have the "furry children", Cleo and Teak.

my sister named her son 'gannon' in honor of our dad - it was her maiden name and instaed of using his first name she used the last name. different but really cool.
i loved reading the bad bad thing and still do :)

What's scary is that someone in the Baby Names community was seriously contemplating naming their child "Catastrophe". That's enough to make the Baby Jesus cry.
