(no subject)

I am now a Prada whore, it's official.
Today, I bought new glasses at LensCrafters - and while they weren't done in a hour, they were done by my lunch hour. This is far better than the 2 weeks that I've waited in the past for new glasses.

Anyways, I have swell blue Prada frames (smokey blue, as Kellie would describe them), and they came with a very nice embossed black Prada eyeglass case, that also included a cleaning cloth (and yes, it is also Prada-embossed).

I feel almost chichi or something. If only my hair would behave today, I'd really feel and look damn pretty. *grumbles about washing hair with Lush's Happy For S.A.D. post-Yoga last night*

Ah well. At least my glasses are pretty, spiffy and new! :-)

oooooh Impressive! (I really like the Prada frames... they're too pricey for me but I really like them)

[identity profile] hiddenmuse.livejournal.com 2004-08-27 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah - I was surprised by the price ($200 for frames), because I'd paid $250 for Jill Stuart frames back in St. Louis. Of course, I was doing this without the benefit of insurance - either Vision Insurance, or an insurance plan offering discounts with a chain eyewear provider - so I did have some freedom ... as long as I could accept that I would be paying for the entire cost myself!

Let's try this again...

These are the Prada glasses I want...IN GREEN.

PRADALICIOUS

Ooooohhhh, prettyfull! Mine are a similar shape, but the frames themselves are plastic - while the stems are wire.

Kind of strange to get adjusted to, but I do like them. :)

Another thought
"see there's a difference between like and love... I like my sketchers but I LOVE my Prada back pack..." *pause* "but I love my sketchers..." "that's because you don't have a prada backpack!" "oooooh"

damn, rocking the prada frames. thats fresh.

i felt dope when i got my armani frames.

Oh yeah - I'm moving up in the eyewear fashion chain ... lol.

Started a few years ago with Liz Claiborne glasses, then moved onto my Jill Stuart frames (for that broody emo-child look) - now, it's Prada.

I like that the eyeglass case is subtle - I was half-expecting it to have that "Prada Triangle" in the middle and all - but instead, it's a very simple black leather case, embossed with "Prada" in the lower right corner.

And if you've gotta wear glasses - why not be a fashionista about it? Have a little fun! The Armani frames that I've seen have always looked very classic and handsome - just like the clothes. :)

ooh! I almost bought the same frames! :) I went for the equally fabu moschino frames.

Ooooh, Moschino - I almost got sucked in by the Moschino frames ... but the Prada had me. Although, the Moschinos would make for some wicked sunglasses.

I have always wanted a Prada bag....my friend told me about this thing called "classy bag ladies" where they come to your house and have a "purse party" and you order knock offs....I wonder how I feeeel about that?? can anyone really tell the difference do you think? And if I got the Real Deal would I feel guilty spending so very much?? people are starving in Africa. A purse is not something you use every day like glasses...purses are much more superficial...cosmetic....I dunno, I think about it sometimes though!

By the way...I absolutely adore the Muppet Show still as an adult. I think my favorite was always Beaker. And sometimes we like to go around our house (the kids and I) pretending to talk like Swedish Chef! I will always always feel sad that Jim Henson did not take good enough care of himself, was basically consumed by his drive to work, and died well before his "time"....

Well, with the fake purses - I have a Kate Spade bag that I'd bought at a garage sale for $10, and it may be a fake. To be honest, I really can't tell any difference between my Kate Spade and the real thing - and no one has called me out on it yet.

As for fake Prada bags - their best-known bag, in my estimation, is a bag that's made from "parachute material" (I have no other way to describe it). Because it's a real Prada, they can charge several hundred dollars for it. If someone offered me the exact same thing - as a fake - for $50, I'd probably buy it, because you can't tell the difference, unless someone so anal-retentive or so snobbish that they'd judge people on whether my Prada bag is real or not!

And I still have a soft spot for the Muppet Show and Sesame Street. Swedish Chef, Bunsen and Beaker, and the two guys in the Balcony (whose names I always forget) are always my favorite characters. :) And with Beaker, I have a t-shirt that shows him on it and says "No Beakers were harmed in the making of this t-shirt"

i have a prada handbag but it's a cheap knockoff from hong kong..tis cool and so cheap:D

my mum has the real thing though and constantly makes fun of mine
i dont wear glasses anymore..i love contact lenses!

[identity profile] hiddenmuse.livejournal.com 2004-08-27 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
I had contacts for a while - but there were too many complications in the beginning, from the attempts at getting fitted for them, that I ended up with scratched corneas! :(

I may try them again at some point - it's been almost 15 years since that disastrous experience - but for now, I like my glasses. :)

Hehe - my sister was the same way for a long time, too!

A couple of years ago, she ended up getting glasses - to wear occasionally - because she's far-sighted.
