Good & Bad ... Straight to Indifferent
8 More Days until I get on a plane & fly out to California! 8+(:-D
It was an interesting work week. Thankfully, most of the people have been decent - no calls from Mrs. X or anything. There was a realignment of the Cube Farm for the past couple of days - which seemed to go off without a hitch. And to celebrate getting past the crappy week, I went to Happy Hour with Sherry, Denise (the receptionist) and Rachelle (new co-worker) tonight.
We sat at the table, drinking, eating mediocre Happy Hour fare (but then, when isn't Happy Hour fare mediocre? at least it was a step above getting-cold pizza rolls and chip dip of a questionable freshness...) and sharing tales about work. Definitely fun times, there. :)
Speaking of work, I have been unofficially deemed the "walking Rolodex/Assistant Sys Admin/general know-it-all (almost all)/general shit disturber". But, since that won't fit on a business card - unless I plan to hand out 8 x 10 cards or something - I'm sticking with Customer Service Assistant. How does that all work out? I'll try to put it into so many words ... hehe
Walking Rolodex: If you need a company address, the level of significance a client holds to the agency, or who's married to/separating - divorced from whom ... I'm the girl. It's not a deliberate thing by any stretch of the imagination, but it happens. My short-term memory sometimes sucks, but my retention is damn good.
Assistant Sys Admin: Got a tech issue? Apparently I'm pretty good with those, too. Whether it's using Word or Excel - or getting an Internet Radio Station - I've been called in for those things. Sherry's even showing me how to do some of the actual Systems Administration stuff - so there's someone to hold down the fort when she's not around.
General Know-It-All (Well, Almost All): Well, duh. That's probably obvious. I know quite a bit - but not everything. And I try to not act like I know everything, cos that's just too annoying.
Shit Disturber: Something I've called myself before - but it's been officially bestowed upon me by Sherry. So, I'm an official shit disturber now. Woohoooo. ;)
Oh yeah - today is my parents' 16th wedding anniversary. (That's parents as in Mom and Stepdad) I sent them my congratulations on staying married that long in this day and age, and told them that I admired their perseverence. I know it hasn't been easy - they've had their moments, like anyone else - yet they've managed to work things out. So, I think that's pretty damn cool.
