On a lighter note

One of the best things that Kellie and I saw this weekend happened in the Castro.

No, it didn't involve strobe lights popping up from the street, and a disco ball dropping down from the skies, while half-nekkid go-go bois did their thing in shop windows.

It was better. I know - you're wondering how *anything* could be better than the Castro during Pride Weekend. Well, this is - while waiting for the bus to get home, Kellie and I saw people hailing cabs. Not an unusual sight, except for the confounded young man that happened to be hailing a PIZZA DELIVERY GUY!

Yeah, Escape From New York Pizza is really going to get you home, dude. Sure, the sign looks *similar* to a taxi's - but look what's missing: the TAXI or FOR HIRE sign.

Almost as good as the tourists trying to hail hired cabs for a half-hour.

What's terrible? That the guy was hailing the Pizza Delivery car ... or that there weren't strobe lights, disco balls and half-nekkid go-go bois in the store windows? ;)

*cries* I miss my Castro. Castro on Halloween provided some of my greatest memories... Or greatest lack of memories due to other issues. ;)

LOL I love stupid people. They provide such amusement. :D

Okay, can we discuss this whole pizza thing?? I have looooved Escape from New York since I was in High School (ahem...not to advertise my old age...but I did graduate in '87, so that means I've been going there a fair piece!)

I even take my kids there now, although the Haight is not eeeeven what it used to be interest-wise, yet I bet that the hippies said the same thing about that locality from the 70's -during the 80's...

Anyway, my favorite slice (or two) is the potato pesto. I was so into going there with Tom when we started dating along about 5 years ago, and he promptly pronounced it "eh..." What a let down for me, as before mentioned...I looooove that pizza! But he says it can't hold a candle to East Coast pizza...?!

Can you give me your personal opinion of it if you've eaten there? I never knew until last year that there was one in the Castro and have been dying to go there but never had the time.

I've eaten at the Haight and Castro locations, and love the pizza - my favorite has goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and basil. Very, very yummy. :)

Anyone that I know of that has gone there has loved the pizza - and usually asks for it a second time when they come around again!

Another place for good pizza in the City is Stelladoro Pizza at Divisadero and Fulton. Most excellent pizza there!

okay, second try...please excuse duplicates if the first pops up later...I now copy long responses cause I hate trying to remember what I said when LJ eats something!
----------------
hrmmm....I will add Stelladoro to places I'm wishing I had more time to get out to...especially now that I'm plunked back down in Baby Land! (oh those two years of freedom seem oh so brief now!)

If you (and Kellie) ever have a hankering to go to the Castro Escape, let me know, I'd love to have a good excuse to make the time...and I doubt I'll be meeting you at the End Up anytime soon! (basketball tummy and all!)

I could even drag [livejournal.com profile] venusrising along with me, it'd be nice to place a face with your avatar!! But best for me if it's before February, that way the baby will be less trouble since it will still literally be on the inside of me!!! And, well, he can round aboutly enjoy pizza too!!!

:)
MMmmmmmm...goat cheese!!
