From MSNBC.com - "Right to Carry" for Asthmatic Schoolchildren

Finally - people are getting the message! A bill co-sponsored by Patrick Kennedy (D-MA), himself an asthmatic, will allow children with asthma to keep their rescue medications with them.

As we all may (or may not) know, for any children on medication - their medications have to be kept with the teacher or school nurse. This includes rescue inhalers and EpiPens, for those with asthma or severe allergies. Anyone that has needed their rescue medication *immediately* knows that waiting for the teacher or school nurse to find the medicine just chips away at the valuable seconds (even minutes) that you have without them!

Here's hoping that this bill will be signed by the President - children bearing rescue inhalers would be far smarter than rushing those same children to the ER in the midst of a severe asthma attack or anaphylactic shock!

{Additional Political Commentary: You know, if Shrub signs this into Law, this might be the only Good ThingTM that he has done since darkening the doorway of the Oval Office. Not like I need any other reason to vote for Kerry ... we've had about 1,460 of them already!}

I received this in my e-mailbox at work from Breatherville.org - excellent news for younger asthmatics and their parents!

The sort of 'Right to Carry' law that I could get behind... )
